Math Memory
Dealing with reduced working memory
Reading disabilities have a huge impact on math, but often when the reading is addressed, the student begins to experience greater success in math. However, students with organizational problems have different issues to deal with. Executive functioning difficulty often means that students will have little working memory and this has a HUGE impact on their ability to hold numbers, text and images in their head in order to do multi-step functions. This makes math very difficult. These students require visual anchors, images and other strategies to help them get around this working memory issue. |
