21st Century Learners are called on to be critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators and creators. However, to become effective learners, our students need a classroom atmosphere that is supportive of learning needs and a positive space for all.
Creating an effective 21st Century classroom truly is about balance. Today, teachers need to address students’ physical needs and learning differences with a Universal Design for Learning. We must also address students’ social and emotional needs in order to create a positive and healthy atmosphere in our classrooms. That healthy atmosphere, in turn, helps students become good communicators and effective collaborators.
This site is dedicated to providing lessons and resources for UDL, Assistive Technology, and social-emotional learning as 3 tenets that can help a teacher cultivate a more effective 21st Century classroom.
